THE TOWN OF LINCOLN’S JORDAN HISTORICAL MUSEUM
The Jordan Historical Museum is an exquisitely well-maintained example of 17th Century United Empire Loyalist and Pennsylvania German Mennonite roots in the area. Cleverly crafted hands-on displays of pioneer life and excellent guided tours of the two historic buildings on the site – the 1815 Fry House and the 1859 Stone School House – await you.
The Jordan Historical Museum's 1812 collection is officially up on the Our Ontario website and is accessible to the public. Along with artifacts from other museums, over 40 items have been photographed from the museum's Permanent Collection, all with histories reaching back to the 1812 era. While there were no particular skirmishes or other active military history recorded in Lincoln, the museum has an excellent collection of domestic items dating from the period. The museum is focusing on that aspect, along with the pacifist Mennonite point of view, in its presentations in the marking of the Bicentennial.
The website www.1812history.com will be the center for all the 1812 History items in general.
